So, my son (18 years of age) is driving his 1989 300 TE from FLA to CA to see me and breaks down. Garage says the clutch in the ac compresser has burned out and needs to be replaced. If not the belt won't turn and the engine will seize. Does 1500.00 sound about right (P&L)? Can the belt bypass the compressor allowing the engine to turn but rendering the ac as dead weight (arizona in july here we come!)?
Any advice GREATLY appreciated.
