I have a euro 1985 280ce. It starts with one turn of the key when cold but after I drive for fifteen minutes or more and shut it off and let it set for ten minutes it will not start until I crank on the key and pump the gas pedal four or five times. I have replaced the fuel filter so far. Hope someone has a suggestion.

unfortunatly the list of
possibilities is very long:

valve adjustment?
fuel system rest pressure leaking from pressure check valves in the fuel distributor?
or in the fuel pump?
basic idle mixture Co% setting?
bent air sensor plate or the plate is not centered
correctly in the housing?
really bad(leaking)injector nozzles ???????

when did this start to happen?
what's the service history in detail of this car/motor?

whan you replaced the gas filter- did you catch a sample of the junk that came out of it? any sand? or water?
