What is safe for cleaning the wood interior components?

Don't you love staring at all that wood when you're at a stop light? I love it! The wood on the X350's has a clear-coated finish. Both Jaguar and many detail specialists I have spoken to suggest using only a moist microfiber towel, followed by a dry microfiber towel. For truly dirty wood, a diluted all-purpose cleaner should do the trick-spray it on your towel, follow with a moist towel to wipe off cleaner, and finally, follow with a dry towel. Sounds too simple, but unless you're trying to remove scratches, this should be all you need to keep the wood clean. Do not use furniture polish, as this tends to be a magnet for dust, and offers no real protection. For maintenance and protection, I have heard that people treat the clear-coated wood like their clear-coated paint: apply wax with a high caranauba content (like P21S, etc), or even sealant (like Zaino or Klasse). I have yet to try this, but plan to try it soon(waxes and sealants have no abrasives to scratch the clear-coat). Hope this helps!

Thank you very much for the advice, it means a lot to me. I love the wood and leather of my '05 XJR! I just got rid of my 2004 911 for the Jag (kids getting bigger, getting scared next to all those SUVs!), and haven't regretted it a bit! Today my wife and I were on a back road and I pulled out to overtake a truck, punched the gas and the supercharged engine literally launched us past the truck! I started giggling like a kid at the impressive torque and after a second looked down and saw I was doing about 90......gotta watch that smootheness too!

This is hardly a gripe, but, despite the massive torque, the delivery is so smooth that passengers aren't fully impressed until they glance at the speedo. I let my friend take it for a spin. He commented, with a smile from ear to ear, "Wow, that just doesn't feel like a hundred!" To which I responded, "what!?!?! Slow down!" And in Sport Shift mode, it holds the higher RPM, waiting for more play! Awesome!

The best that I have found for cleaning and polishing the wood in my Jag, is the wax recommended for guitars and Steinway Pianos. I don't off hand remember the name of it, but you can get it at most music stores. A 4 oz. spray bottle sells for about $5.00

What is the best way to keep the beige seat cushions clean. My new racing green '05 seats are getting dirty with use.

And what about the XJR's great handling characteristics. It seems that since passing 7K miles, it's cornering at speeds above 70 mph are impressive. The car neither pitches, rolls or loses its cool in hard cornering or during blast off. The only thing that I've seen is that in keeping the tires at the suggested 28psi during hard cornering is that the Pirelli's screetch. I've increased them to 30psi and the tires seem to be stickier now.

Keeping a light-colored leather clean can be tough. The advice I was given is to use a leather cleaner (designed for auto interiors) once a month. I apply it with a sponge applicator (like the Meguiar's yellow ones they sell two to a pack). If the dirt is particularly stubborn, use the cleaner with an upholstery/carpet brush to scrub the seats. My brush is the softest upholstery brush I could find, but it does not leave any scratches in the leather that I can see (leather is pretty tough stuff). Wipe off with a moist towel and dry with another. We all have our favorite products (I prefer Zaino, an on-line product), but any over-the-counter product should work also, like Mother's, Meguiars, etc. (It's more about the technique than the product!) Also, be certain to condition the leather (I do this every quarter). I find websites such as *************.com to be very helpful with detailing advice.
As for tire pressure, I was keeping the recommended pressure for speeds under 100 mph. I think I'm going to try higher pressures recommended for higher speeds, even though I never ever ever drive over 100 mph :)
