2 times yesterday the car died for several seconds then resumed normal operation. It was almost as if you turned off the key for a few seconds on the freeway, then put it back to the run position.

Both times the lights were on. The car lost power, the headlights went out, the tach and fuel gauge went to zero, the parking and interior lights remained on, then 2-4" later the head lights came back on, a few lights (such as the fuel empty light) lit up momentarily and the engine resumed normal operation.

My initial thought is a reverse current relay cut out due to some headlight current problem but it's just a guess based on previous experience with an old car (which I inadvertently created with a headlight change).

Thanks for any input 2002,11/01 prod. 6spd AW/Man Seats/HK/Stoneguard.

This is what the internet it for!

Searched for "e46 m3 momentary cutout", found this, checked my battery, and you can guess the rest. :)
