Right in the middle of rush hour on the way home... I noticed that my Sirius info wasnt working anymore on the radio. Hmm... then i noticed all of the following.

1) Button controls were gone on the steering wheel
2) No directionals
3) No hazards
4) Interior lighting was on full blast (like the auto dim feature was gone on the radio and odometer)
5) I was hearing a RELAY sound every time I pushed in the clutch. Cruise was off.

I did not try sport mode in fear of getting stuck. Also, i was not in limp mode nor were any warning lights on. Engine seemed fine (no limp mode)

I made it all the way home and tried the standard reboot trick we've all gotten used to in Windows. No luck. In fact... even without the key in, the dash was now beeping at me and the lights were still on. [Oops!]!

I finally had to pull the battery ground. I restarted the car and everything went back to normal.

Odd thing, is now I hear the RELAY sound right under the clutch pedal just after I shut off the car (when it is depressed)... but not while it is running. Is that normal?

Anyone else have this "fluke?" I'm guessing the "body software" went in the weeds. But i've never heard of this on an e46. Sure, the new 5's 6's and 7's all had this problem but were sorted out after the first year.

The power locks and windows are also dead. It happens to me when it is ballz hot outside. And even then, only now and then. Once the car cools, everything is fine. Dunno...<img src="http://www.spodi.com/m3/john_sig.jpg" height=160 width=600>
