Wonder what oil I should be buying?
1982 300d turbo Diesel.
I was told it is running 10-40, But I was told by another I should use 20-40. I live in California by Sacramento - almost never below 30º.
Thanks All

I use Pennzoil 15-40. When you start the oil change, take the filter housing loose first, then pull the drain plug. I always drain the oil after the car has been run, the oil seems to drain faster. oh yeah, I only use German filters, either mercedes benz, or mann filters.
Good luck,
Daniel H

Would that be safe to run in my '85 after running mineral 20W40, etc. through my car for all these years with over 300k on the clock? I have to change oil this weekend and was curious.

I don't mind spending the extra bucks to help prolong the life of the block. Any idea if the '85 300SD Turbo Diesel motor is EGR valve equipped? I would assume so. It looks like that is the only concern / basic requirement on using this particular engine oil. (besides it being a diesel motor)

And where do you find it at since it's not normally sold in retail auto stores?

I order my MOBIL 1 Diesel Delvac Synthetic on-line = google

YES - ALL (w123 & w126) 300D turbodiesels ARE with EGR.

mounted on the intake manifold just in front of the air cleaner housing

This place sells Mobil Delvac 1 Full synthetic 5W-40 although you have to buy four 1 gallon cases and it is $104 not including shipping.
