I drove my '04 VDP this morning without a problem. Got back into the car a little later and the steering wheel wouldn't extend to the memory position. Turned the auto mode off and on without success. Turned it off and the steering wheel wouldn't work manually either. The memory of the seat and mirrors work.

Not deliberatly trying to cross post as I just responded to the seat issue post with the same issue, but I am having the same situation with my power seats and steering wheel of my '03 XJ8 as you described. Memory works for two remotes, but can't make any changes to the seat or steering wheel. Passenger seat controls still work fine.
