Does anyone one have a good suggestion for the cause of an engine rattle (like a timing chain noise) on a 1980 528i 5 speed that only happens at exactly 2500rpm no matter what gear you are in. valve gear is good, chains have been replaced and its not pinking (preignition). the car is fairly high milage but still fun with a close ratio (1:1 5th) 5 speed box and full M tech suspension. FYI its in New Zealand so is a Euro spec german built model.
