I went out kicking tires today & came across this new R8. It sold this
morning for $125k. The orginal owner backed out & it was snapped
up this morning. I never cared for the contrasting color-sash, but this
looks pretty good.
A service/sales dude came out & started it up to move the car into
the detail area & it sounded glorious! Very much like a race car!

For BMW content, i also ran across this pretty clean 2002 Turbo.

This sticker was atop the dashboard. Heavily USM-processed "Total price" region to bring out the numbers.

Topline Motors in Burlingame CA is selling it on consignment. He's got several offers over 40k. The interior was very clean; the seat leather was in excellent condition, probably freshened. The engine bay was scheduled for detailing but it looked very clean.

shopping center but it didn't have the sash...the colour was silver. I had also seen one in Toronto (in silver) but it had the sash which i did not care for. While in Slovenia i also saw the A5 coupe out and about and it does look real nice in person.

The chassis is awesome. I spoke with Audi engineers when they have the invite drive in Las Vegas last March. They all said wait for the V10.

overmatched. Should have matched it up with a 997S.

Sorry, no pics.

Signed up for a half-day at the Audi Driving Experience a few months ago, the day finally arrived. If you haven't been to racetrack since the remodel, it's amazing, great facilities, beautiful pavement, excellent. Anyway, I was in the afternoon group, about 8 guys broken into two groups of 4.

We met in a newly constructed hospitality suite for check-in and a catered lunch. After a quick bite we went down to the new classroom complex for the standard "chalk-talk" discussion of the fundamentals.

If you ever been to a BMW CCA car control clinic (and shame on you if you haven't) it's the same drill. We started with a very basic turning exercise in the new TT's. Next, an accident avoidance exercise using Audi A6's (a 4.2 sedan and 3.2 wagon). That was followed by a slalom exercise in an A3 3.2, an A8 4.2L and the new Q7. Amazingly, there wasn't as much difference between the A3 and the A8 as you would think on the tight course. After that, we went on to the ABS braking exercise in A4's (both 3.2).

Finally, to the track. We played follow-the-instructor around the track in RS4's. I had been skeptical of the track prowess, being a M3 owner, of the heaver but more powerful sedan. My overall impression; awesome. They are truly great cars. A ton of luxury, great fit and finish and the sound... it's a deep rumble that stays with you. The interiors are far superior to the new BMW's (E90/92's). There is a lot of grip, it's extremely well balanced, you can place it anywhere on the track with amazing precision. Did I mention the exhaust rumble... great cars.

Then it was back to the slalom course in the TT 3.2 for timed laps. The winner got a few laps of personal instruction in the R8. I did well, but not nearly good enough.

The last event of the day, and the one we'd all been waiting for... driving the R8 on the track. Again, we played follow-the-instructor. First, for a supercar it's very approachable. The cockpit is comfortable, the seats are supportive, everything falls to hand. I drove the 6 speed manual which featured a gated shifter (a la Ferrari) but it was smooth with a "snicky" quality and short throws that made it easy to use with out taking your eyes off the road, even though I'd only driven it a 100 yards or so. Again, very approachable, very, very easy to drive very fast. If the RS4 is an 8/10 then the R8 is an 11/10, except there is no drama. Bounding over the curbs didn't upset the chassis, nor did my ham-fisted driving. You can brake really late, the turn-in is razor sharp, and you can feel everything the car is doing without being overloaded with information.

It's simply brilliant... I'm in love.
