Just acquired an 89 190e 2.6 engine. When the engine is not up to normal operating temp the oil pressure gauge shows it reading 3 at idle. At normal operating temp the guage drops to 1-2 at idle. Rev the engine and it pegs out. Cruising speeds, the pressure pegs out and when decelerating the pressure drops. I am not at all familiar with these engines and am wondering if this is a problem or a normal thing. When the oil pressure drops, there are no engine noises (knocks/rattles). The engine has 187000 showing on the odometer. It appears to be the original engine. It purrs like a kitten.
Thanks for any info.
