There is a slow leak in the engine of my 2006 750i. It's basically burning a bit of oil at idle.

I noticed that the dealer has been pouring replacement oil directly into the engine via the Oil Cap there. Bypassing the traditional oil intake (the one with a dipstick). I've never seen someone do this deliberately.

Can anyone give me an idea of why they are pouring it in there and not through the traditional oil intake?
