Hi all :) (2 of you maybe, for now).
My name is Dave Endersbee, and I am a...umm...I don't know...addicted to rusted hulks of Bavarian steel.
I currently own a '76 2002, and just this morning I picked up a polaris '74 3.0s, twin Weber 32/36, 5 speed, actually damn working AC, shot interior, power everything (most of it works, too), I think alloys of a 5 or 7er. Head is cast 85. New hoses. At operating it gets up to 3/4 and stays there. Is that good or bad? The motor sounds perfect, and may actually be 77,000 on it.
So, some stupid newbie questions:
-plugs? what to use? gap?
-oil? what/how much?
That's all I can think of this instant :)
Thanks,
Dave
'74 3.0s
'76 2002
Arlington, VA
http://drive.to/BMW2002

: Hi all :) (2 of you maybe, for now).
_way_ more than that I'm afraid..
: My name is Dave Endersbee, and I am a...umm...I don't know...addicted to rusted hulks of Bavarian steel.
That's the first step. Nah, no one here really wants to be cured.
: So, some stupid newbie questions:
: -plugs? what to use? gap?
Lots of opinions. My Haynes says Champion N 11 Y but I think people are using W8BC or something. I just went to the local parts place and asked for plugs..
: -oil? what/how much?
My high mileage engine prefers 20W50, I don't do the synthetic thing, though others do.
6.25 quarts, and a huge canister filter that's really hard to reach.
: That's all I can think of this instant :)
: Thanks,
Congrats and good luck.
See http://www.seniorsix.org/
Scott
74 Saharia (the Sahara Bavaria) 2100702
71 2002
69 1600
