I have a 84 318i. My other BMW is a 70 2000 4dr which i know every component by heart. On the 318i there is some kind of relay mounted on the air filter box towards the alternator that is driving me crazy cause I can't figure it's purpose out. My Bentley manual doesn't seem to help. Anyone know? Thanks.

Only 318's, 325e's and M3's. I assume Motronic1.1/1.3 is so adaptive that it doesn't need a special sensor, probably uses info from the AFM.
