Anyone have experience, suggestions on replacing shift knob on a new E46? First BMW since 2002 so I don't know how these new things operate.... -= thanks =-

First BMW since 2002 so I don't know how these new things operate.... -= thanks =-<p></i><p>I have a aluminum knob waiting to go on...my dealer said it just pulls off, but when I try I get all freaked out, cuz it feels like the lever is gonna come right out, maybe will be easier in warmer weather.

I've replaced the factory know with the shorter oem accessory leather knob with stainless trim and shift pattern. The knobs do come off relatively easily by pulling straight up. The new knobs (at least the oem accessory ones) install by reversing the process; i.e., just push the new knob on firmly.
