Could we try an informal survey. I really don't know how prevalent the nikasil problem really is. Do all cars eventually fail or are they OK if they reach some mileage without problem.<p>Please leave whatever info you like, but it seems to me the following would be helpful:<p>Year<br>Mileage<br>Where located<br>Condition (idle, leakdown results if know, etc)<br>Block ever replaced?<p>I'll post my own results as a reply to get things started.

No reports of OK engine so far...could the problem really be this common?<p>More replies would be helpful. Thanks.
