I am looking for a bimmer in the $30,000- $33,000 range. I have looked so far at the new 323i, and enjoyed it, but I had two older kids and want a car that they can be comfortable in the back seat of. I also am disapointed I have to pay for armrests and alloys and fogs and even cruise. I know this car is bigger than E36, but I still think it might be too small. If I want bigger, that means I must go the used route to fit in my budjet. I love the E39 5 Series, but to get a nice one, I'll have to spend closer to $35,000 - $40,000, which I dont want to do. My choice then? A 1994 or 1995(preffered) E34. I would love to get a V8 (530i or 540i,) and would love a manual. I know the 530 had either a 5spd Auto or man, and the 540i had a 5 spd auto or 6 spd man. Did the 540i 6 spd have gas guzzler tax, too. Also, were any V8 E34s sold in 1996(when the 6 cylinder E39 came out). To stay in my budjet, I'd probably have to get a 530i, but would also appreciate to know how much any of you have paid or sold your 530 or 540 for. Ive seen a few nice ones, would I be able to get one from the dealer in my price range? I'd love to get a certified warranted one! Anyone have pics of an E34 in dark red (I believe its Calypso red, could be wrong?) with sand or black leather? Or even gray?

There's a real nice Calypso '95 540I six speed at AutoAdvantage in Manassas, VA. Check it out @ autoadvantage.net It's in your price range and they offer a six month warranty.
: I am looking for a bimmer in the $30,000- $33,000 range. I recently bought a 95 540i/6 with 60K from a place called Northpoint Motorcars in Atlanta GA. I paid 29K for it. I researched hard and looked for about 1.5 years and always came back to NPMC. They treated me better than anyone else and gave me a good price. Call them @ 404.233.4BMW. They will fax you their inventory.
Good Luck.
Jeff

: I am looking for a bimmer in the $30,000- $33,000 range. I went through a similar exercise in the spring!
I called several BMW dealers and told them what I was looking for and I ended up getting a 1995 525i 5spd with only 15k miles (off lease) with Premium Package, OBC, ASC+T and CD player (basically everything except the BMW phone) for $30k. By putting a JC chip on the car you get a 210hp motor that is plenty lively and easy to work on. I tend keep my cars and do a lot of my own maintenance (I am not mechanically challenged!) so the 6 cylinder was my choice for when the warranty runs out. BTW - The chip made the performance gap between the 525i and 530i negligible.
Phil C.
95 525i 5spd. Sharked

I bought a cerified preowned 1995 540i 6 spd last Jan with the add'l 2yr/5ok warranty for $34,000 from BMW of Manhattan in NYC. The car had 19k miles. I had a few minor problems but its covered. One year later this car is definitely in your price range. Get the 540 not the 530 it's just flat out more car. In my opinion the 3-4k difference in price will be recouped during resale because the car is a one year only item (540 6 spd only in 1995)and this one year is in the E34 design which in many people's opinion is a more classic design. The 530 is always someone's second choice to the 540. Sometimes in life its worth getting the best ( you already are making a compromise in getting a used vehicle)
