1989 535ia, 135,000 miles. Recently noticing a slight "clunk" when auto transmission downshifts from 2nd to 1st gear while slowing down to a stop. Any clues as to what might cause this.

i have same problem on 525i '89 203k miles<br>but i think it happens when it downshifts from 4 to one of lower gears, it does it with knocking...<p>i heard that some of gaskets might be worn out<br>i am going to replace the fluid on Lubro Molly one and see if it helps<br><i><br>1989 535ia, 135,000 miles. You might look at your U joints on the driveshaft - this is a typical sound they make when they wear.
