no...i have not heard a firm green light for the M compact, but I am guessing it is pretty much a sure thing from what i have been told (could be delayed or axed like other projects- new 2002, new 6er being 2 examples- due to losses at Rover)
i have been told it will not be the same engine as the E46 M3...i have been told it's focus would be as an "entry level" M car (Roundel's reporting of a $35k base MSRP is on target)....maybe it will have the E36 US M3 engine, but that engine would need it's emissions cleaned up for future production
i have heard bits and pieces, but nothing firm
i do know there will be 4 engines in the E46 lineup in the US (2.5, 3.0 and 3.4) but I am unsure what exactly the 4th engine will be

Bruce - are you saying that BMW is not moving forward with the new 6 series?

: Bruce - are you saying that BMW is not moving forward with the new 6 series?
from what i was told...no :-( blame it on the $3B losses at Rover
