: I think I've decided to get out of my 2000 328ci and move into a new M3......but how long will I have to wait you think? Any ideas and anyone have any photos yet? Let me know please.
: Thanks.

http://members.aol.com/mye46/iaa/m3.html
A large number of comprehensive pics from all angles at this link. If you want the car, you need to get on a dealer waiting list now.

I spoke to 5 BMW dealers in my area, and not 1 said to put a deposit down yet. They said in a nutshell "Why would you put a deposit down now, the car is a year away", "Call me in 6 months or so, then maybe", "You want to give me $500 now, why", "That car is slated for Oct 2001, relax"
I am more than ready to put down a deposit, but its just not mandatory to do so at this point (at least on LI it isn't)-
Oh, the dealers are willing to take the money now though, If I wanted to do so.
I put down a "no nonsense" $1000 deposit 5 weeks ago and am number 6 on the dealer's list in Atlanta. And the car is slated for this fall delivery....not fall of 2001. But then again, if you relax and wait till you seem them this fall in a showroom, you might be able to get delivery in Oct 2001.

(by the way they were very aloof). Naturally, if you want to buy one now expect to pay dearly. In a nutshell, dealers hate to be in a position of selling a hot car for list price. If a dealer won't take your money go elsewhere. I have a deposit with Hassel BMW for the Cabrio version which is at least 12 to 18 months away. The coupe will be here much sooner.
p.s. $1000 is the norm.

i have a feeling that might be the motive to some of the dealers I spoke with, but a few sounded sincere (I have leased cars for years, so its not too difficult to spot a BS artist).
