I believe the M6 is the missing link. It is an overpriced Z3 w/o the styling but has the 400hp engine. It looks just like a miata and is loaded with luxury features to justify the price tag. The car has taken a real diversion from a prototype first shown in a european autoshow two years ago.
By "the 400HP motor" do you mean the same one as the M5? How much is the M6 going to weigh?

:By "the 400HP motor" do you mean the same one as the M5? How much is the M6 going to weigh?

the car that is described is NOT the M6 and it is NOT an over priced Z3....it is a carbon fiber and kevlar frame car weighing 2900 pounds with a tuned M5 engine putting out 450hp...cost is rumored to be $130K...model code is E52 and will be badged the Z07
Bruce
Bruce

: then there should be 6 M models then, MZ3, M coupe, M3 sedan, M3 coupe, M3 convt. and M coupe

M3 sedan is out of production, so that makes 5 if you count the M3 coupe (which goes out of production in april) and the M3 cabrio as 2 instead of 1
Bruce

Automobile magazine wrote a blurb around 3 months ago on the compact line... based on the E36 chassis with totally new sheet metal. Said there'd be 1.9, 2.5, and M versions (hot 2.8? didn't say). I don't believe I'm the only one that read this. May have been the issue with the Z07 on the cover.
andy r.
