My defogger isn't working but the fuse is ok. Could it be the switch itself or something else? 96 M

Mine doesn't illuminate, so I suspect a faulty switch, but I could be wrong. Fuses seem OK, but shouldn't it light up regardless? Previous owner had removed the tinting on the rear glass, so there are probably a bunch of disconnected heating elements. Any ideas?
