: What on earth is Gmbh????
German abbreviation for "wholly owned subsidiary," as opposed to "AG" which is short for "stock company".
BMW AG is a publicly-traded company; BMW M GmbH is a wholly-owned motorsports subsidiary of BMW AG.

GmbH stands for Gesellschaft mit bestraekter Haftung, which in English is a limited liability company. Most subsidiaries of stockholder owned companies (AG = Aktiengesellschaft) are set up as GmbH, but independent firms may also be limited liability in nature.

: GmbH stands for Gesellschaft mit bestraekter Haftung, which in English is a limited liability company.
Almost. GmbH stands for "Gesellschaft mit
beschraenkter Haftung", but you're right
about the rest: it is a company with limited
liability, and is a common way for wholly owned
subsidiaries to be structured in Germany.
