i'm considering either an euro 321hp engine or a supercharger for my 99 m-coupe. the euro engine is around $13000. but if i get the that engine, i can also sell my old engine (for about $7000 market price) and end up paying $6000. this is about the amount i'd have to pay for a supercharger. so does anyone have any ideas or comments on reliability, performance....etc. thanks!

I'm just curious - how easy is it to purchase a complete Euro engine, out of the box ? I know that you can purchase brand new engines from GM / Chrysler, etc, but will BMW or a BMW dealer sell a U.S. resident a Euro engine ??

I have been thinkning about a Euro engine as well but I was wondering about its availability. Will I order it through a Local dealer or find another way?.....Plus since I am not American I do not know the details involvong inspection. Will I "fail" it with my new Euro engine?....And how often do I have to pass inspection?

u have to get the euro engine from someone else, not ur dealer. some tuner shops can get these for u, for example axiom racing and turnermotorsport. note that the engine u order will most likely be used, and starts at around $10500 depending on mileage. As for inspection, u have to do it every year when u renew ur registration. don't know if the euro engine would pass though
