before i purchased my blue m-coupe, i've read a number of articles which, while praising the car's dynamism, seem to agree that car is just ugly. yet eversince i first looked at my m-coupe in the show room, i have not been able to understand that ugliness claim. in fact, after 3 months of ownership, my m-coupe is getting more and more beautiful each day.
initially, i must admit that i am somewhat troubled by the criticism from the various automobile publications. their concensus seem to be telling me that i am alone out here, alone as an admirer of the m-coupe. however, for the past three months, i've heard nothing but praises toward my car:

"nice car...what is it?" (5 times)
"wow......that the new bimmer?" (3 times)
"oh my god, that a prototype?" (on two occasions, and i answer them, 'yeah, i work for BMWUSA')
...this one from my detailing guy, "this is my new favorite car, the old one was a ferrari."
and countless college students with their heads sticking out of the window, thumbs up, and shouting, "damn, that car is CRAZY!!"
crazy? hmmm...thanks, i'll take that as a compliment.
i dedicate this report to all of us m-coupe lovers, congradulations, we are the majority. and to those critics (magazine writers...etc.), we don't give a damn about ur opinions.
so is the bmw m-coupe an ugly car? hahaha, r u kidding me???!!!

Perhaps the car is unique, unconventional or different than the current norm but never "ugly"!

95% of people love the look of the car. Especially girls, especially younger people, especially the "hip-hop" crowd.
The worst I've gotten is an "I don't understand"
I heard a construction type guy in a heavy southern accent say "what the hell is that?" as I drove by though. You had to hear it with the accent, it struck me as very funny, thought telling the story doesn't do it justice.
Yes the "Crazy" statement is a compliment. They were probably on some crazy drugs.
: before i purchased my blue m-coupe, i've read a number of articles which, while praising the car's dynamism, seem to agree that car is just ugly. yet eversince i first looked at my m-coupe in the show room, i have not been able to understand that ugliness claim. in fact, after 3 months of ownership, my m-coupe is getting more and more beautiful each day.
: initially, i must admit that i am somewhat troubled by the criticism from the various automobile publications. their concensus seem to be telling me that i am alone out here, alone as an admirer of the m-coupe. however, for the past three months, i've heard nothing but praises toward my car:
:
: "nice car...what is it?" I originally did not think the M coupe was that good looking of a car since all I had to go by was photos. Upon seeing the car live I changed my mind and it gets better looking the more I drive it. I also have never had a negative response from anyone, just about everybody thinks it looks neat, racy, awesome, and "WOW! What a car! The best compliment came from a group of young girls playing on the sidewalk as I cruised by; In unison they all said "Hey Cuool Car". Kinda made my day.

I saw my first M coupe at Inskip BMW in Warwick, RI (Ken, I believe you are from Providence, correct?) It was Silver with Black and Drak Grey leathe and it had the dealer installed nav. system and cellular phone. Ever since then I have been in love! I wish I was young again! Maybe in a few years as third car, but now i have kids and need a back seat, so I had to go for the E46. What an amazing car, but i wish it was as unique as the M. To date i have only seen 3- two of which were at the dealer in the showroom. (maybe I'll see yours, Ken. Look out for a Alp. White E46 with RI plates "KI 397") The only one I have seen on the road happens to belong to the husband of my wifes boss. What a coincidence! It is gorgeous, but I wish it wasn't green (I hate green!)
Oh well, I envy you all and can't wait for the kids to move out so I can get an M!! It is one of the best looking cars i have ever seen, and I aplaud BMW.
DrB

The only thing that really troubles me about it is that the back of it looks like a $10K car. I would have liked a more sloped roofline. That said, from the inside (where the person making the payments is) it looks great!
<img src "http://www.honda1999.com/cars/civic_hatchback/images/visuals/photo1-big.jpg">
