The underdrive pulley reduces parasitic loss from the accessories by underdriving them. It is just a smaller / lighter crank pulley.
I have one on my 2.8 roadster. It is 4 pounds lighter and I got 7-8 hp and 11 ft lbs on the dyno. Good torque gains 10+ ftlbs from 3000-5000 rpms. Only problem so far is slightly dimmer headlights at idle, but normal at 1000+ rpms.
