I'm gonna get FLAMED for this one. I'm new to bimmer.org, and was just looking around the forums. I'm not saying that everyone here is a total ****, but there's a few... Like Mr "Your 540 is a bigger piece of ****" and the guys claiming to know it all. There's a lot of you out there. This is just a message to all the flamers and others who think they are God: BMW's are great machines. I've owned and driven many more than the average person. I've seen and driven all but the E21 3-series cars, 525, 528, an older 535, a '91 ///M5 and 540i's, a 735iL and two 750 iL's, one of which was mine. They're all great. But i love my iX. The point is, why trash each other's cars? Isnit this a forum for discussion of problems, how to fix stuff, where to sell stuff, or buy stuff? I mean, likely about 2 of you will ever own a Z8 (maybe more, i dont know) and youre saying things like the 540 is a POS? I'm going back to my old board. Sorry to disturb you all.
Corey

Corey,
If the mail isn't signed by someone with a REAL email address, just ignore it. I'm sure that MOST of the asses that post the things you are talking about have never driven, needless to say, owned, a BMW. As far as one BMW being "better" than another, that's B.S. Just as I'm sure you wouldn't want to drive an X5 at 155 mph, I wouldn't want to take my 850i on the backroads. No BMW is any "better" than another, one just may fit our personal needs and tastes than another. Anyone that has to trash someone else to elevate their own ego has some serious "issues" in my book.
Jim Surdick
'92 Laguna Green 850i 6spd
BMWCCA #148638
: I'm gonna get FLAMED for this one. There are always the sad few who only get off by trashing others and their opinion. In our case my wife and I have owned five BMWs and five MB cars. Other than the old 318, which we had lots of problems finding good maintenance for 15-20 years ago, we have loved all of them.
My first 740 saved my life in a 45MPH head on. While our current M Roadster isn't the fastest car either, so what? It is a kick in the *** to drive and "she who must be obeyed" won't let me sell it when the Z8 arrives. We'll jst have to have more fun. My BMW experince has been great and I'm looking forward to more with the Z8.
Yep the Turbos will beat me, but I will have the top down, and they won't!
Bob
BMW Z8 2000 #34
Titanium Silver/Sport Red
VIN - WBAEJ1345YAH60034

: I'm gonna get FLAMED for this one. Corey,
I do agree with some of what you are saying, but in my case at least I wanted some feedback from future Z8 owners on my choice to buy a Jaguar XKR. As for me not using my e-mail address, well frankly I don't like to post it on the web, although I did include it in this case to show that I'm not a bored flamer. I like BMW's just as much as the rest of you.
Darrell

: I'm gonna get FLAMED for this one. I'm new to bimmer.org, and was just looking around the forums. Three questions:
1. Is there a Porsche Turbo Cabriolet available in the 2000 model year or a 2001 planned?
2. Is a turboed engine as mechanically reliable as a normally aspirated engine? AND
3. If you have your choice between 400hp turbo and 400hp normally aspirated engine which would you choose?
Jim Surdick
'92 Laguna Green 850i 6spd
BMWCCA#148638

: <i: Yep the Turbos will beat me, but I will have the top down, and they won't!
: Well, the Turbo Cabriolet and the F360 Spyder will... vbg
: cu, tg
: BMW Z8
: Titanium Silver/Black

What's with attitude and foul mouth? Is it for kicks to see what kind of reaction you get from people? Seems like talking about cars would be more fun than adolescent name calling. Or is that the problem, your are an adolescent maybe?

That is not a Turbo Cab, that is a C4 Cab in fake trim to disguise it. The article is flat-out wrong. Porsche will not bring a Turbo Cab to market any sooner than 2003, IF EVER.
Currently, they have no plans to do so.

is going to do in the near future. There is not only a SUV/SAV and the Turbo Cab in the pipeline but also a 2+2 (998 GT2).
Take a bet? vbg
cu, tg

DC
04-16-2000, 02:04 PM
The SUV has been common knowledge for a long time - Porsche even used it as it's excuse not to race this season.
The 998 is supposed to be another joint venture with VW (who is currently in negotiations to buy out Porsche - look for this to happen in March of 2001). I just saw a picture of it on the 993/996 board.
There will be no Turbo Cab coming out as a 2001 model.
The Targa is ready for production but was knocked back a year as demand is still very high for the other models.
Go over to the 993/996 board or the 996 board and tell CFG (Chris from Germany) that you think there will be a Turbo Cab in 2001. He knows what is coming and what isn't.
DC - 1996 Non-Turbo 911 Cabriolet

You must know that the SUV that Porsche is bringing to market is being mirrored by VW - it is basically the same vehicle.
