I just "installed" the Alpine CHA-S634 changer using the Soundgate adapter abmw35V4 in my 2001 e46 and the head unit is not recognizing that a changer exists. I have an in dash CD with HK.

The switch on the changer is set to #2 (m-bus). There are CDs in the changer and it does have power. Everything seems to be right but it's not showing up on the head unit.

btw, I did press the CD button on the head unit twice and several times.

Any ideas on why it's not working?

it's an alpine part, KCA-130B, that converts from Ai-net to m-bus

the changer has power and is connected but I can't control it via the head unit

I've heard that there are some problems with DSP systems and the alpine changers.

I am thinking of putting exactly this config into my 2002 X5, so I would be interested to know if you have managed to get it working OK?

TommyX has fitted exactly the same config to his 2001 X5 and did not have a problem, see link below. You might trying to email him if your installation still does not work.
