1) Cover intake and fuse box with plastic bags, secure with rubber bands
2) 50/50 mix of simple green and water on everything, let sit for a few seconds
3) hose off
4) dry, use armor all on all black parts to bring out the shine.

Am I forgetting anything? Does anything else need to be covered besides the intake and fuse box?

Might want to tape off any cruise control parts & ABS block (if visible) and if your car is fuel injected, the throttle body area - I've seen water damage the cruise units a few times before.

Also, try using aluminum foil instead of plastic bags. Much easier to work with, and doesn't require rubber banding... :-)

…this procedure, particularly hosing the engine down (regardless of what's been covered).

A damp towel with Simple Green sprayed onto it is advised for simply wiping the engine down.
