outputs to a Factory navigation head unit. Is this
necessary? I understand the line-level outputs from
the head are balanced. Does anyone have the wiring
code to the factory (E46 with HK) navigation head?
Several automotive amplifiers accept balanced inputs,
JL audio, ADS, etc. What about noise using these?
I'd prefer JL over ADS as they will no longer support
Apogee products after acquiring them, thus leaving
me with a $10,000 set of speakers that I'm scared to
use. But that's a different matter all together...

What are you folks doing to upgrade the factory navigation
equipped systems? The stereo in my M3 is sooo bad, I just
can't take it anymore. Help me! : )

However, the JL Audio amps don't truly support balanced inputs. They have "differential-balanced topology." Marketing fluff (though I generally like their amps). Zapco and Hifonics Generation XI amps support balanced inputs directly, or else you can use a LOC like the VEN from Peripheral.

they're certainly not the best way to...

upgrade the factory "crap-o-sound" system. Does
anyone have the wiring code for the harness
that plugs into the back of the navigation
head unit? - Bubba
