View Full Version : Removing old engine laquer/protective spray

Does anyone know how to get this crap off, as you can see in the photo it has discoloured over time/heat and it is on everything under the hood, including wing gulleys/bolts area, cellulose thinners does not work (tried when I had the rocker cover off) + is V hazardous to rubber etc... thanks

WD-40 might work - that would be my first choice, otherwise, try a wheel/rim cleaner that's made for cast aluminum wheels (porous alum) - Eagle One has some, I believe.

I had a similar problem with a '64 Vette that had cast aluminum valve covers, and WD-40 took it off no problems. Let us know the results!
