Getting new rag top today on my M. Should I treat it right away?
Starbrite or other treatment?

Car never sees rain top down most all the time even when I wash it.

Thanks

While I haven't had a convertible for some time, my all-time favorite protectants/cleaners were the Porsche line. I'm certain someone makes it for them, but was never able to determine who that was.

Starbrite is pretty decent too - either way, I think you'll be ok. One quick note: I'd definitely treat it right away. Even when it's folded up, it's still exposed to dust/road grime/exhaust/etc.

Steve, BMW puts a protective chemical (Impregnator)on the top before they are installed on a car. This prevents the fibers from decaying and provides a protective and water proof layer. You shouldn't need anything right away, Unless you want too. BMW also carrys a product that reimpregnates the cloth top. Good to use this atleast once a year. If you want to use those other protectants, Have at it. These products will give the top a nicer appearence and protect as well. Remember to never use a brush stiffer then horse hair to remove stains.
