I have a new Motec M8 that I want to get installed on my M5 turbo. I like to hear about your experiences and tips.

Thanks,

the tuners I've met and worked with have had some comments in the way of it not being an easy task to completely tune a car for reliability. More for tuning for the days drive or event in order to produce max power and efficiency. There are several companies out there that produce an independant computer s/w engine management system.

Electromtive in Manassas, VA has several kit applications for their TEC-II units along with custom packages. I've seen their kits varying the cars from twin turbo 5.0L Mustangs, Blown 455ci Big-block Olds motors, Porsche's, race Honda's-turbo-blown-N/A, etc. This kit in comparison to the ones listed below, seem to the "more user friendly" from what I understand.

Motec-Always recommended, expensive, difficult to get started easily on. The extent of my knowledge w/o researching it more.

Haltec-Same as above, more parameters to control and monitor equipment, more complicated.

They require a lot of trial and error for custom tuning, dyno tuning recommended, professional technical assistance and a lot of patience.

That's all that comes to mind.

Thanks for listing the alternatives, but I need to get the M8 I already have installed. I have talked to Bob Norwood in Dallas about doing the job. I just want to educate myself before I hand him my car.

Thanks,
Bill
