I have been considering adding forced induction to my 87 325ic. While I thought about turbos, I'm leaning towards a supercharger because of the relative ease of installation and fine tuning. I only want to run between 5 and 6 lbs boost to protect the engine's mechanicals.

I've looked at Schneller's site and appreciate the advantages of a full 'plug-and-play' kit. However, I also appreciate the advantages of keeping a dollar or two in my wallet. The $5,000 price tag is a bit rich (especially as I live in Canada and this translates to almost $8,000 using the 'Peso north').

Has anyone used other superchargers and had the mounting hardware made or modified at a machine shop. For example, Toyota has a supercharger available for the Camry that looks interesting. There are a fair number of other options as well.

Any experience or comments?
