I'm hoping to install a Cartech Turbo with Air/Water Intercooler on a '88 535is with plans of running between 10 and 15 psi boost (until it grenades). ;)

I have seen and heard various opinions as to whether I'll need to spend $$$ on an aftermarket, e.g., Electromotive fuel and ignition control. Any chipped Motronics without piggybacked fuel or ign. on Turboed M30's out there?

Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Joe

Joe,

I own a 735i Dinan Stage 2 Turbo. I am using the Dinan Turbotronics 5 piggybacked to the stock ECU. This adds the much needed knock sensor and other safety features for more reliability. I have had good luck with the whole setup. I have 50K hard miles from the rebuild/conversion and not a sign of slowing down. It runs 12.5psi of boost and generates 405hp/435lbft with only the pistons replaced by forged ones to bring compression down to 8:1, other than that rods and cranks are stock.
