..recently discovered that the left unit is broken inside. In fact the internal mechanism that
controls the beam sideways (plastic screw?) is broken and the mirror unit is floating
free, and seems to stay inplace because of the external cables and level mechanism.
Dealer says non repairable and wants to charge $700 (!) for replacement of whole unit.
Car is 18months, waranty expired (1 yr only where I live) , extended warranty covers
no light units, and feel desperate. Can the the unit be repaired? I already detached it from
chasis but don't know how to separate the mirrors from the housing etc...

How come such an expensive car part is managed by a plastic screw that fails because
of aging cheap plastic?

Thnx for any help.

Dear Sir,
Plastic does have some bad qualities, but we have replacement optics for e39, clear corner angel eyes with harness and everything you need for $950.00 well guarentee them from doing this.

Thanks,
Jeff
