What is everyone's opinions on yellow fog lights? I have heard that they are better. Is this true? What do you guys recommend?

Dear Sir,
Yellow fog lights are better in the fog its a proven fact. We have tinted people projectors to project yellow in the fogs. Yellow fogs, with HID is really strange, it ignites green and fades to yellow. Our WRX Imprezza here has a projector from a lexus IS300 with HID.
Thanks,
Jeff

Fog lights are designed to put an appropriate level of light output down low to the road to try and reduce the amount of light reflected back, and therefore give you a better chance of seeing some of the road details so that you can continue driving at reduced speeds - with some degree of safety.

The issue of colour is not a factor. You want enought light to see without so much that you cause extra reflection off the road surface into the eyes of oncoming drivers.

See following link for some detailed info about lighting in rain and fog.

Yellow light will increase contrast. This is why some drivers use yellow lenses at night and some hunters do as well to improve visibility. If you've ever taken a photography class you'll also run into yellow lense filters to increase contrast.

As per the previous post where fog will decrease contrast, yelllow lights will increase the apparent contrast to try and compensate.

Lamin-x protective film sells a yellow transparent protective film if you don't feel like buying the light. Shouldn't alter the optics dramatically. Same stuff that BMW and Porsche uses in ALMS.
