Most BMW series do have electrical "gremlins" which follow the components. The E30, E28 and E24 shared some components and had a lot of the same problems. 7 and 8 series share the same gremlins. Usually just switches aging and needing replacement, or the car design and wear/tear allows water in to some spot which gets a wire wet and takes out something.

Search each different board here for their particular gremlins.

It was the electrical problems that kept me away from the E30s in the 80s and early 90s. But, if you can do some maintenance on your own, and follow posted directions, it is not too bad.
