Lotus Cars press release on the Type 199 results:
<b>An Excellent Result for the Type 119</b>

The Lotus Type 119 finished second in class (for "Roadsters") in the Goodwood Festival of Speed Soapbox Challenge. An excellent placing for Lotus in the company's first attempt at the competition. Overall the Type 119 finished third just behind McLaren and BMW with their Project Rolls-Royce. The Type 119 still set a time several seconds quicker than last years winning time and managed to beat all of the other Automotive Engineering Consultancies and most of the other car manufacturers including Ricardo, Prodrive, Mira, Ford, Vauxhall, Jaguar and Bentley.

Lotus Engineering and the Graduate engineers worked in association with several high tech companies, to maximise the competitiveness of the Type 119. These companies are:

<ul><li>SP Systems. Supplying carbon based composite materials and assisting in the laying up and curing of the body and chassis at their facilities.
<li>John Burn. Supplying modelling block material for use in the manufacture of the moulds for the chassis and body.
<li>IDAT. Machining the modelling block to the design shape for use in the moulds for the chassis and body.
<li>Hydro Aluminium Automotive Structures. Manufacturing the wheel uprights, and supplying various aluminium material.
<li>Wyko. Supplying bearings and rod ends.
<li>Hexcel Composites. Supplying carbon fibre sandwich panels for use as car flooring.
<li>Grand Prix Promotions. Supplying the team shirts.</ul>
