Last year I had to have the a/c sytem replaced in my '86 944. It was replaced with a Porsche system. FOr some reason, I cannot keep a belt on it. About every 3-4 months, the belt breaks. I have had it checked repeatedly...the condensor etal is level.. NO ONE seems to know why the belts keep breaking. Has anyone else experienced this and if so did you find a solution? This is VERY frustrating the only real problem I haver had with this wonderful machine.

I just bought a '85 1/2 944 last October, and it had a wicked grinding/bearing noise. To make it short, I tracked it down to the air conditioner adjuster. It was slightly off putting side-load on the component causing excess wear and noise. It is possible that this is or may be your problem.
