I just want to see how my stock NSX compares with a Porsche 996
Raced a Boxter and beat it by 2 car length
Just a friendly match and make friends too

Email me if intrested

A 996 would put a much worse hurting on a Boxster than "2 car length"! A 996 would put a much worse than 2 car lenght hurtin on a Boxster "S" and a Boxster "S" would put a much worse hurtin on a reg Boxster than 2 lengths.

Actually I just raced my NSX coupe with friends 2000 Carerra 4 in the 1/4 mile
Both cars had minor modifications

1st gear we were even
2nd gear I was half a car infront
3rd gear i was one car ahead.
4th gear I was still one car ahead.

First of all, the C4 is the HEAVIEST Porsche made (before the turbo). Second, your friend needs to learn to shift :-) If he has an automatic, then no wonder you won. I'll be in SD with my 996 cab (slower than a coupe) in about 2 or 3 weeks and I know how to shift :-)

The porsche is a stick 6 speed
well if you really think your porsche can beat the NSX we can try a friendly matchup.

just email me and we can meet up

I need to get some decent miles on the 996 before drag racing. Of course, we’re talking about at a strip with a tree right? I mean, these “street start” races are meaningless because a race is won or lost at the tree and there’s no way two guys can start at exactly the same moment without a tree.

Only problem with Carlsbad is the dirt access road but that’s the place to go to see “what ya got”.

See you there some time...maybe a couple of months.

this article shows it would be a really close and fun race. Gotta set it up some time...

I don't have a clue whether the 996 can beat an NSX. However, I DO know that if you only beat a Boxster by 2 car lengths, I'm gonna hurt you when I get there :-)

"I mean, these “street start” races are meaningless because a race is won or lost at the tree and there’s no way two guys can start at exactly the same moment without a tree. "

Actually, the best way (other than the tree) is to use cel phones with handsfree and count to three together.

That is by AT LEAST .20, the worst time EVER clocked in a car magazine for the 996. The 996 is a VERY tough car to launch off the line.

The article says "Trans: 5A". It's a tip which is definetely slower.

If the NSX runs 4.93, chances are my 996 cab can't keep up. That said, no way the NSX "only" beats the Boxster by 2 lengths - NO WAY.

I was looking at the E55 numbers which were next to the Carerra.

the layout of the article is VERY confusing...the photo is NOT next to the text...look at it again. The picture of the 996 is next to the E55 box (which is the 5A).

Well I raced the boxter from traffic light to traffic light which was not a full 1/4 mile.

In the Popular Mechanics link,
the carrera 996 had 1/4 time of 13.3
the NSX-T had 1/4 time of 13.17

My NSX has all the bolt on modification (Headers, Intake, Exhaust) its a coupe model( so saved 100lbs over the targa model)& other minor weight reduction.

Now with all of these modifications I am sure the NSX is running high 12s

Now look at the times for the Boxster and even the Boxster S. You should be KILLING both (ie: MUCH more than 2 lengths). You musta had a bad launch or missed a shift

What have you done to it??( modifications)

Are we still going to meeet up in SD?
I never drive my NSX much so I just want to drive it once in a while with some Porsches, Ferraris, M5's group..

Hi.

My car is an 01 996 cab, 6 spd, which is pretty much stock.

The car and I should both be in town a week from today, but we'll need to probably get settled in before I schedule any drag racing :-) I'll be checking in here, and will get in touch within a week or two of arriving.
