Just got an '81 911 SC. The transmission will need some work soon. During the rebuild I'd like to do everything possible to make it 'better' while it's apart.

What is an absolute must do on these transmissions?. I'm considering the close ratio set-up (don't know how much extra cost this is yet) and possibly a short shift setup.

Is there anything else to make it feel more positive?!?!

Your advice is greatly appreciated.
