I'm considering doing the cam chain tensioner upgrade on my 81SC Targa. I'm not completely convinced this is an absolute neccesity though due to Porsche's 1980 and forward OEM upgraded chain tensioner.

Has anyone at this site actually heard of a chain tensioner failure on an 1980 through 1983 911? I welcome any insight from those who have experience with early 80's 911's.

Thanks EOM

I haven't seen any late sc break, but have heard lots of stories..... I haven't ever heard of the Carrera tensioners breaking though, just more piece of mind in my opinion.

Dave what is actually physically involved in the task, and are there any obvious clues, just by looking at finished motor, to show its been fitted, (pipes-clips-hoses etc)
just wondering?
