BMW doesn't change oil at 1200 mile servie. Should I change it at my expense?

BMW tells me to not change initial engine oil until 5K miles or more.

The oil that was removed from the engine was perfectly clean. It looked brand new. I probably wasted my money by changing it. And it cost me almost $100. I would say, "Don't bother."

I did because I feel it is cheap "insurance" for the engine life. This is one high revving motor...what's $75 for a car of this calibur...but I won't change again for at least 5000m.
