I have a 84 911 with a sunroof. Both cables broke from the sunroof. My shop manuals only explain how to replace them when the sunroof is open. However, my cables broke with it closed. How do I open it to connect the new cables? Any ideas anyone? Thanks

Use a putty knife (wrapped with duct tape to protect the headliner and paint) and pry the sunroof headliner from the sunroof itself. There's enough room to get the putty knife under the cover and snap off the clips. Once you've gotten the three clips off, you can slide the cover back for full access to the cable mechanism.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try.
