I am considering a '90-'93 911 for everyday driving in the Chicago area. When I make the move to Porsche, I want to enjoy the car as much as possible...That and I can't afford two cars!

Any advice as to how this car will work in everyday travel and snow?
What about a c4?
or Tiptronic?

1. A fine everyday driver
2. You will need some good snows (even if a c4)
3. i prefer c2 w/ manual but thats up to you.
4. i drove a 944 turbo-s everyday for 8 years and drove circles around suv's during our worst blizzards!
5. good luck

Why do you prefer a C2 over a C4?

from a very personal viewpoint. i just don't think the 4wd cars are as much fun to drive as the 2wd. 911's are at their best when they are being balanced w/ throttle; something you cant do w/ awd. RWD cars can be induced to under- or oversteer at will. AWD just plow; simply not my idea of fun.

P.S. i also prefer normaly-aspirated cars over turbos when it comes to 911's. Love my 944 turbo-s though!

Thanks.
But have you compared 4wd vs. 2wd in snow? (with snow tires)

I drove my 944turbo-s everyday for 8 years here in NY. W/ snows i never had a problem. 911 will be even better due to rear weight bias.

Thanks - so with a 944, this was 2 wheel not 4 wheel drive?

NY and loved it! - MrLucky
