went across border to Port Huron Michigan yesterday to order 17" M3 Replicas @205 US$ at Discount tire per your excellent research. The advisor [asst. mgr] was very helpful and told me that ALL the 97 wheels they show for 2001 E46 M3 will bolt on w/o spacers- some will require hub centering rings. prices range from 75 to 589 ea. The 75$ units are sold out. There are Motorsport Replica wheels -17X7.5 5-120 41SM regularly 159 on sale at 105. This would mean same[ie 41mm] offset front and back.
He says this will fit and work fine w/ my Pirelli 210s[225/45 R17].
Is this true? Can I use same offset front and back? are there disdantages even if it does "fit and work well"?
appreciate your advice.

No you need to use the et20 for the rear and et41 for the front. The et41 will retract 34mm in the rear fenders and will look lousy. Your salesman is most likely confusing the 330Ci with the M3. Our stock offsets are 18x8 et47 front, 18x9 et26 rear so the et20 replica is necessary.

Jason - Which Replica Wheel did you end up choosing? The M3 Style or the Motorsport Replica that you posted the pic for?

Also, did they include centering rings or add'l purchase? Thanks!

I bought the M3 replicas, excellent copy of our OEM style. Bolts, BMW logo centercaps and the centering rings are included.

17x8 et47 front
17x8 et20 rear

The 225/45-17 will throw off the speedo/odo by 4.04%. For every 10,000 miles you actually drive with 225/45s the odo will read 10,404. Other benefits of the 225/50 are better traction (the higher the sidewall the better with snow traction). Also 225/50 allow use of an auto car wash without scraping the rim in the track.

Big thanks guys as supposedly the car left VPC and is arrive at the dealer this week. So time to pick it up and get some fun before the snow starts. But will be putting my order at Discount Tire and going with the M3 Replicas and ordering via Tire Rack the 225/50-17 with the Pirelli P210s.

Appreciate all the help with the posts and info. It's been a help and finally can't believe the wait is almost over.
