1991 with snow tires? Bad idea?

Driving a 911 in the rain is like asking a beautiful woman to a wrestling match; driving a 911 turbo in the snow would be like chasing a fine champagne with a Budweiser...not a good thing; pedestrian; poor taste; just don't do it.

Depends on the Turbo... later model 4WD - no problem, very civilized. 2WD earlier model, not too bad with the tall first and 2nd gear, just don't stick you foot in it and wind up the boost. Not something I would recommend (as most of the earlier turbos are wrecked backwards) Maybe look at a nice C4 almost the same HP as the earlier turbos and 4WD! Good luck!

In europe all kinds of porches are driven year-round. The parking lots of ski resorts are filled with them. Its only the americans that deify their cars. I drove my 944 turbo-s every day for 8 years in ny w/ snows. never had a problem

I don't think you can compare a 944 turbo to a 911 turbo. The 911 has lots more power, more weight over the rear wheels and handles worlds apart. The 944 has 50/50 weight distrubution

Same as any other car. Proper tyres and a proper mindset and you're away. I had an old 911 rally car and it was a ball in the snow.
