I have checked the master cylinder - seems good.
I am assuming that the brown with white wire running to the bottom of the emergency brake is grounding out somewhere causing the problem.

But, can someone please tell me where this little wire goes, I cannot trace it.

Any other ideas.

Thanks,
Andrew

I had the same problem on my '83 SC. I turned out to be the brake light switch which is attached to the master cylinder. It is avaible for about $25 dollars from Pelicanparts.com. P/N 113-945-515-G. There are 2 versions a 2 pole and 3 pole. I believe that pre '83 sc's used the 2 pole. Good luck! I hope that helps.

Andrew,

Had the same problem myself, spent ages doing all sorts of checks on wiring, switches etc. turned out to be a simple fix, apparently the light on the dash has a module built into it and the way to reset it is was to disconnect and reconnect the battery, I did this, Problem solved.
Hope this works for you.

Alan.
