After two VERY long years on the waiting list, my time to order came late last week. I had decided on all options already, but not on the color, which until last week was going to be Topaz Blue/Black. After seeing my first Topaz M3 last weekend, I decided to go for Apline White. I spent the last two days deciding on the interior (IR or Black) but ended up with black. Here is what I ordered for my 2002 M3:

- AW/Black
- Premium Package
- Width-Adjustable Seats
- Cold Weather Package
- Bi-Xenon lights
- Rear Air Bags
- HK Premium Stereo with in-dash CD-changer
- 18" Wheels
- SMG II

I should get a production # in a few weeks - that will allow me to track the actual process !!!

Thanks to all for your help and support so far :-)

I didnt know they offered an in-dash cd changer, thats really cool. I still want nav, however.

I did the IR interior. Much more stunning IMO but I can understand peoples trepidation with a red interior. Even I thought it would be too 70's Cadillac gaudy but the color is really a nice darker shade of red and there is just enough black to soften it up nicely. I would have really loved black and red two-tone leather but as we all know, this isn't an option in the US. The black is nice but I think there's too much of it and some contrast is needed in such a sporting car such as the M3.

If you've not actually seen the IR interior, do yourself a favor and try and scope one out somewhere to see it in person. I think that you (and the wife) would be surprised as I was.

I also have the nav, certainly not a critical option but it does work quite well and adds some cool factor. Did you consider it?

BTW, don't forget your "free" park distance control option that comes with SMG. Definately takes away from the asthetics of the car but actually is quite useful and reassuring when backing (although I'd never admit it to BMW).

Good luck with the wait (its agonizing). You will love this car!
