Wondering if anyone would like to share an opinion on this.

The full sized 185R/65 - 15 spare (Mich MX4)in my 318 has never seen pavement (I know it should have been rotated in.)

I need four new tires now. Is it wise to but three Michelins that are as close a match as possible (MXV4) or am I stuck buying 4 new tires?

Its just not worth the risk, minor differences in tread and carcass could lead to loss of control under slippery or emergency conditions.

Also, if you rotate (I do) there is a slight loss of traction until the tires wear adjusts. BMW does not recommend rotation because of this.

he MXV4 is not a close match other than the name. The tire is totally different and higher speed rated. You could have rotated the spare in but BMW doesn't recommend it.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you
